ARTSPEAK  –  Languages of Creativity is an installation in the Commons Gallery, University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, running from October 5 – October 31 2014. The installation features live and web-based interaction, promoting discussions among Pacific Island artists about the different languages, vocabulary and concepts they use to talk their work.

Curated by Moana Nepia, Assistant Professor at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, this event is being hosted with cross-disciplinary support from faculty members and students in the Center for Pacific Islands Studies, the School of Art and Design, the School of American Studies, School of Theater and Dance, the Academy for Creative Media, College of Languages, Linguistics and Literature, and the English Department’s Creative writing program.

ARTSPEAK  coincides with an exhibition of Pacific Island art titled Binding & Looping: Transfer of Presence in Contemporary Pacific Art, curated by Deborah Waite in the main UHM Art Gallery.
